SLslutSlut shaimg, girl power and sexualiztionslut-shaming, girl power and 'sexualization
For many generations women and men have been degrading each other based on their sexual preferences, being promiscuous, and participating in sexual activity. Many relate this issue with feminism and rape culture, of course these two things play a huge role in what makes "Slut Shaming" actual slut shaming. Slut shaming is the act of making, or attempting to make, a person, especially a woman or girl, feel guilty or inferior for certain sexual behaviors, circumstances, or desires that deviate from traditional orthodox gender expectations, or that which may be considered to be contrary to natural or religious law. Meaning that we as people put other women/men down because of their decision to participate in sexual activity or behavior that we don't deem acceptable.
Society has put a huge name to slut shaming, especially with social media becoming an every day lifestyle. The way in which we slut shame does not have to be the typical "She slept with three guys, she's such a slut and whore," Slut shaming is downgrading the way a woman dresses, in short or revealing clothing, or the fact that her friends are men. And the truth is that people mostly only slut shame women, but slut shaming men can be just as much of a problem. Especially when it comes to rape, society points the finger at the woman because of the way she dress, but what about the man who raped her?! And why is it okay for men to tell us that women are sluts for wearing certain types of clothing, but men are okay when they yell, whistle and stare?!

But for teens this has put a huge impact on their social appearance. Teen girls are the most targeted when it comes to slut shaming, especially in high school. This whole idea of putting someone down for doing what they want and being who they want to be has to be ended. Bullying is creating a huge problem in high schools, slut walks are becoming more and more popular, and people being victim blamed for rape because of what they were wearing is just down right awful.
